On January 6, Beijing time, Xpeng Motors Vice Chairman and Co-President Gu Hongdi said in an interview with foreign media that its latest X9 model will be a "game changer" for the industry. Xpeng Motors released the X9 large 7-seater electric car on January 1, which is a car built for the domestic market based on the SEPA2.0 Fuyao architecture. The X9 series is priced between 359,800 yuan and 419,800 yuan, and can be shipped immediately.
Gu Hongdi said: "For the X9, we actually expect it to change the rules of the game in the field of MPV pure electric vehicles. We believe that the X9 will be the best-selling product in its category because it has some very innovative technologies and designs, as well as excellent handling, industry-leading intelligent driving technology, etc., all integrated into this product." He believes that the X9 will be a product with a very high profit margin.
In addition to his high hopes for the X9, Gu Hongdi also introduced Xpeng Motors' expectations for this year in an interview with foreign media. He said: "We expect that by 2024, Xpeng Motors will grow much faster than the industry growth, which means we can expand our market share." He added: "Xpeng Motors will seek to increase profit margins through greater scale and a better product mix."
He is optimistic about the electric vehicle market in 2024, although 2024 will be a very competitive year. He believes: "China's electric vehicle industry achieved very high results in the fourth quarter, and if you see the penetration rate at the end of 2023, it will be close to 40%, which is the highest point we have seen in the industry. So all of these indicate strong momentum."
In this interview with foreign media, Gu Hongdi also said that Xpeng Motors has signed a cooperation framework agreement with Guangdong Huitian for the production, development and sales of flying cars. It is reported that this cooperation will realize an intelligent transportation ecosystem and mass-produce flying cars in the future.
For foreign markets, Gu Hongdi said that driving assistance technology will be launched in Europe by the end of 2024.
