Due to the year-end holiday, the release of the Linux 6.7 kernel has been delayed by a week, and the stable version is expected to be released later today. Here's a reminder about some of the best features in Linux 6.7. Linux 6.7 is an exciting kernel update to kick off 2024.

Some of the changes/features in Linux 6.7 include:

- Merged Bcachefs file system. Bcachefs is still considered an experimental system, but now it's mainline and continues to gain momentum, especially after this round of fixes.

- Intel MeteorLake graphics systems are now considered stable and enabled by default. Before Linux 6.7, the "i915.force_probe=" option must be used. As my Intel Core Extreme 7 "Meteor Lake" Linux benchmark shows, Linux 6.7's open source graphics support is in very good shape.

-Nouveau kernel driver supports NVIDIA AGPU System Processor (GSP) firmware. GeForceRTX20/RTX30 series hardware will gain better power management/performance when GSP support is enabled using firmware blobs and module options. GSP firmware support also enables Nouveau to support GeForce RTX 40 series acceleration for the first time.

- Disable/enable features supported by x86 32-bit programs on startup.

- Improved scheduler and other kernel optimizations.

-Ended support for IntelItaniumIA-64.

Linux 6.7 is also likely to make its way into Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and other upcoming Linux distributions.
