With the completion of "smart roads", autonomous driving will usher in more implementation situations in China. Recently, it was reported that Suzhou’s smart transportation construction has ushered in new achievements. The country’s first smart highway that meets the vehicle-road collaborative autonomous driving level is about to be opened in Suzhou.
According to the person in charge of the project, above the road crossbar,There are two smart cameras on the left and right sides, and the two in the middle are lidars. These sensors form a set of "intelligent highway side sensing units" that can obtain holographic perception.It can realize the instantaneous collection and transmission of all traffic participants, road conditions and other information on the road section.
Through these devices on the roadside, information that may not be visible or in blind spots can be provided to self-driving vehicles in advance, and real-life traffic conditions information can also be sent to the vehicle.
At present, the project has covered a 56-kilometer two-way section of the Sutai Expressway S17 (Huangdai Interchange to Yangcheng Hubei Interchange). During the period, a total of 55 point sensing equipment have been invested and constructed, and 83% of the total project volume has been completed.
After the project is completed, it will become the first holographic sensing smart expressway in China that meets the vehicle-road collaborative autonomous driving level. Relying on the vehicle-road collaborative approach,Achieve L4 level autonomous driving on the highway. Driving is taken over by machines, and humans do not need to respond to all system requests.
