At today's NIOIN2023 NIO Innovation and Technology Day, NIO founder, chairman and CEO Li Bin delivered a speech. Li Bin announced the "Full Stack of NIO Technology", which includes 12 key technology areas including chips and vehicle-mounted intelligent hardware, battery systems, electric drive systems, vehicle engineering, operating systems, mobile Internet, smart driving, smart cockpits, smart energy, smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and global digital operations. It will meet NIO's research and development needs in nine major elements in three dimensions: intelligence, electric vehicles, cars, products, services, and communities, as well as multi-brands, multi-platforms, and multi-regions.
Li Bin announced at the meeting that NIO’s first self-developed chip, the lidar main control chip “Yang Jian”, will be mass-produced in October.
According to reports, the "Yang Jian" chip is the first self-developed chip released by NIO's intelligent hardware team. It has an 8-core 64-bit processor and is equipped with an 8-channel 9-bit ADC with a sampling rate of 1GHz. It can efficiently capture the original data of the lidar sensor and reduce the power consumption of the lidar by 50%.
Li Bin introduced that NIO’s self-developed chip team currently has a scale of 800 people, distributed in six cities in two countries: San Jose, Beijing, Hefei, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen.
