In a statement, Microsoft said the company is aware of an issue in which applications on Windows Server 2022 crash or display a white screen after KB5034129. As we reported earlier, this issue in the Windows January 2024 Update has caused Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox and even Adobe apps to crash for some users.

According to tests, a blank or white screen appears after applications such as Google Chrome are opened. Restarting the browser or restarting the system does not solve the problem. After uninstalling the Windows 10 Server 2022KB5034129 update, they can access the affected applications again.

KB5034129 is a mandatory security update for administrators as it fixes critical security issues, which is why many people install it when the patch is released. However, after installing the update, some administrators told us they were unable to use Google Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. We've also seen reports of the vulnerability affecting Adobe software.

The issue was also reported on FeedbackHub and Mozilla’s Bugzilla forums.

The good news is that Microsoft is investigating these issues and will announce more details soon. As of press time, the company has not acknowledged the report in its support documentation, but users continue to experience the issue.

Testing showed that the issue was related to GPU loading failure. When the graphics processor fails to load, a blank screen appears when accessing applications like Google Chrome or Edge.

It's likely that this issue isn't limited to browsers, but you're more likely to encounter a white screen error when opening Chrome or Edge. Sometimes, the problem also occurs when accessing Windows Search, Adobe applications or cutting tools.
