[The State Administration of Financial Supervision holds a seminar on financial regulatory cooperation between China and ASEAN and neighboring countries] September 21, 2026. From September 17 to 18, the State Administration of Financial Supervision held a seminar on financial regulatory cooperation between China and ASEAN and neighboring countries in Nanning, Guangxi. More than 30 representatives from financial regulatory agencies from 12 countries and regions including China, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Mongolia, and Nepal, as well as the Macroeconomic Research Office of ASEAN, China, Japan, and South Korea, attended the meeting. The seminar on financial regulatory cooperation between China, ASEAN and neighboring countries was held during the China-ASEAN Expo. As one of the sub-forums of the China-ASEAN Financial Cooperation and Development Forum, the seminar focused on strengthening regional regulatory cooperation to deal with cross-border financial risks, application scenarios of artificial intelligence in the financial industry, and regulatory ideas.
Regulatory representatives at the meeting introduced the latest developments, risks and regulatory concerns in their country's financial industry. Industry representatives shared the experience and practices of financial institutions in the application of artificial intelligence. Representatives from the Macroeconomic Research Offices of ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea exchanged views on the current status, prospects, risks and challenges of regional economic and financial development. Representatives attending the meeting agreed that the current Asian regional economy and finance are generally stable, and the rapid development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence has profoundly affected the way the financial industry operates, changing the manifestation and spread of cross-border risks in the region. Supervisory authorities should continue to deepen cross-border regulatory cooperation and jointly respond to risk challenges.
