[After suspending data center connection to the grid, Texas ordered the suspension of environmental regulatory approvals] "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" reported on the 22nd that Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday instructed the state's environmental regulatory department to suspend all approvals related to data centers until the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) completes a review of the existing queue list of data centers planned to be connected to the grid. The Texas governor's office originally ordered such a review in August, when Abbott halted new approvals for data centers to be connected to the grid. The latest directive extends the moratorium to environmental approvals handled by the state’s Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Texas was expected to overtake Virginia as the world's largest data center market by the end of this decade, according to a February report from Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL); but Abbott's order on Monday could slow that process.
