[Report: The global trade volume of artificial intelligence-related products will reach US$4.18 trillion in 2025, contributing 42% of the total global trade growth] On September 23, at the 5th Digital Trade Rule of Law Forum, the Institute of Policy and Economics of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (referred to as "CAICT") released the "Annual Observation Report on Global Digital Economic and Trade Rules (2026)". The core point of the report points out that artificial intelligence is accelerating to reshape the global digital trade pattern, and the construction and coordination of rule systems have become more urgent. The rise of trade in artificial intelligence-related products and services is accelerating. The global trade volume of artificial intelligence-related products will reach US$4.18 trillion in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 21.9%, contributing 42% of the total global trade growth that year. At the same time, model training and API calls bring new risks such as data security and technical sovereignty, causing relevant rules to face problems such as lag in governance and fragmentation of rules. The current artificial intelligence governance issues are mainly soft rules, and the shift to more flexible new digital technologies and economic and trade arrangements is accelerating to promote technical cooperation and regulatory coordination.
