[United Nations Secretary-General Guterres calls for accelerating energy transition] September 24th. On September 23, local time, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres spoke at the high-level meeting on climate issues held during the 81st High-level Week of the United Nations General Assembly. He pointed out that the global climate crisis is accelerating and more powerful actions must be taken immediately. Guterres called on all countries to accelerate energy transformation, expand the use of renewable energy, improve energy efficiency, reduce methane emissions, and gradually transition away from fossil fuels.
