[Citi: The Fed is expected to keep interest rates unchanged in October and December and resume interest rate cuts in June 2027] On September 24, Citigroup predicted that the Federal Reserve would keep interest rates unchanged in October and wait for more data to assess the impact of a 25 basis point increase in policy rates, and then stay on hold again in December. By then, a series of milder inflation data should provide enough evidence that inflation is slowing, supporting the Fed to keep interest rates unchanged again. As inflation continues to cool, Citigroup expects the Federal Reserve to resume interest rate cuts in June 2027.
