[Qatar increases liquefied natural gas transportation through the Strait of Hormuz to cope with global supply shortages] September 24th: Qatar has recently significantly increased the number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which has risen to the highest level in more than two months. In the past week, at least two ships laden with LNG have sailed out of the strait, while at least two ships have entered the Persian Gulf in the opposite direction. One of them is heading to the west coast of India. According to ship tracking data, this is the most sustained pickup in shipments of Qatari LNG ships since early July. Although shipments are still well below pre-war levels of about three ships a day, gas prices in Europe and Asia have risen to their highest levels since 2022 in the past few weeks as winter demand rises.
