[China-led international standard for commissioning and testing of ship ballast water management systems released] October 9th, reporters learned today that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recently released the international standard "Ship and Marine Technology - Commissioning and Testing Procedures for Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) Electrolysis Ballast Water Management Systems". The standard is led by China and participated by experts from the United States, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark and other countries. Alien organisms carried by ships' ballast water are one of the important ways for marine organisms to invade, seriously threatening the safety of marine ecology. The ballast water management system is the key equipment to kill these invading organisms. Its killing effect depends on the design performance of the product itself and the level of on-site debugging after installation. This standard specifies the technical requirements for debugging and testing of electrolytic ballast water management systems, stipulating that the system operation time should be no less than 60 minutes, the discharge sampling volume should be no less than 1 cubic meter, and two types of organisms larger than or equal to 50 microns‌ and 10 microns to 50 microns‌ must be verified to meet the standards to ensure compliance with international convention emission standards and provide unified and scientific debugging and testing procedures and acceptance basis for ballast water management systems for global shipowners, shipyards, equipment manufacturers and industry authorities. So far, China has taken the lead in formulating three international standards related to ballast water management systems, covering key aspects such as system design and commissioning. They play an important role in curbing the spread of harmful aquatic organisms across sea areas through ballast water and contribute to the protection of the global marine ecological environment. [Passenger flow across the country continues to run at a high level on the fourth day of the holiday, and transportation departments take multiple measures to ensure travel] October 4th, on the fourth day of the National Day holiday, passenger flow across the country continues to run at a high level. Railways, highways, waterways and other departments have promptly increased transport capacity and optimized services to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers. Today, the country's railways carried 19.273 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. The passenger flow of short and medium distances has increased significantly. Railway departments in many places have cooperated with local cultural and tourism departments to set up "tourist service centers" at exits to provide passengers with services such as ticket purchase for popular attractions, tour guide consultation, and transportation connections to scenic spots. At the same time, for popular directions, transportation capacity will be increased by reconnecting EMUs, adding temporary passenger trains, and adding night high-speed trains. In terms of highways, inter-provincial travel and new energy vehicle traffic continued to grow. According to research and judgment, there are 33 highway sections across the country prone to congestion, mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Sichuan, Guangdong, Hunan, Zhejiang and other provinces. The transportation department temporarily opens emergency passages based on traffic flow and road emergencies. As for waterways, the passenger volume on waterways is expected to exceed 1.95 million today. Island tours, city sightseeing tours, and cruise tourist flows continue to maintain high levels. The maritime department uses the smart maritime platform to track ship trajectories, implement ship tracking and patrol boat escorts on key routes, and make every effort to ensure the safety of water travel. [International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance established] On September 23, the Ministry of Transport reported that during the Global Sustainable Transportation Summit Forum (2026), the International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance was officially established. The International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance was jointly initiated by China International Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center, COSCO Shipping Lines, French CMA CGM, China Energy Construction Group, Shanghai Port Group, etc. It is the world's first non-governmental international organization based on international green shipping corridor cooperation. Currently, the founding members of the alliance include 45 leading companies from 12 countries. Its business scope covers the upstream and downstream of the green shipping industry chain, with obvious characteristics of diversification and internationalization. In the future, the alliance will coordinate and promote cooperation in the construction of international green shipping corridors, promote the integration of domestic rules such as green ships, green fuels, and green ports with international standards, accelerate the construction of an international certification system for green marine fuels, coordinate the implementation of transportation facilitation measures, create demonstration projects with international influence, and carry out technology research and development, achievement transformation and capacity building, and become a new platform to promote the innovation and transformation of the international shipping industry.
