[Functional map of genes regulating changes in human bones released] On September 28, institutions such as the Institute of Advanced Human Biology at Kyoto University in Japan released the first functional map of the "human bone gene switch" in the latest issue of "Nature". This study combines whole-genome alignment, massively parallel reporter analysis of chondrocytes, and "human-great ape hybrid cells" to show that cartilage maintenance molecules glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) have been significantly reduced during human evolution, providing evidence for understanding bone formation and why humans are more susceptible to osteoarthritis.
