[National standard for onshore oil and gas methane emission monitoring released] On August 31, the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standards Committee) recently approved the release of the national standard "Technical Guidelines for Methane Emission Monitoring in the Onshore Oil and Gas Industry". For the first time, this standard builds an integrated and traceable methane emission monitoring technology system covering the entire chain of oil and gas production. The system standardizes key links such as monitoring level division, monitoring method selection, equipment selection and calibration, and data quality control. It fills the gap in the methane emission monitoring standard series in China's onshore oil and gas field. This standard not only provides a unified technical basis for methane emission control in the domestic oil and gas industry, but also provides an important Chinese technical reference for methane emission control work in the global oil and gas industry. It is of great strategic significance for coordinating and ensuring national energy security and promoting the green and low-carbon transformation and development of the oil and gas industry. At present, this standard has been verified and applied in many central enterprises such as PetroChina, Sinopec, and State Pipeline Network Group. It will build solid technical support for the oil and gas industry to achieve the nationally determined contribution goals and solidly promote the greenhouse gas emission reduction tasks of the “15th Five-Year Plan”.
