[China Merchants Bank Vice President Xu Mingjie: Retail loan risks are still rising and more active measures have been taken to control them] On August 31, China Merchants Bank Vice President and Chief Risk Officer Xu Mingjie said at the bank’s 2026 interim results exchange meeting that the balance of non-performing loans of China Merchants Bank’s retail loans in the first half of the year was 42.832 billion yuan, an increase of 3.248 billion yuan from the beginning of the year. The non-performing loan ratio was 1.16%, an increase of 0.10 percentage points from the beginning of the year. Xu Mingjie analyzed that under the current background of economic structural transformation and real estate market adjustment, the repayment ability and willingness of some customers are still affected to a certain extent. Added to the common debt risk in the consumer credit market, we judge that the risk of retail loans is still on the rise. We have also taken more active measures to control the quality of retail loans. First, we have timely adjusted the growth targets and development strategies of retail loans based on the market conditions of retail loans. In terms of assessment and incentives, we have paid more attention to controlling non-performing production and strengthening risk resolution. (Reporter Zou Juntao)
