[Goldman Sachs more than doubled its diesel profit forecast] On August 31, Goldman Sachs Group released a report saying that due to the impact of the war in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the global refining market is expected to tighten, and the bank more than doubled its forecast for diesel production profits. "Increased attacks on refineries in the Middle East and Russia have further constrained already tight global refining capacity and pushed refined product margins to new highs," Goldman Sachs analysts wrote in a report. "Diesel remains at the center of this round of gains." Analysts said refinery outage levels were 60% higher than seasonal normal levels, and refined oil inventories were also shrinking despite some decline in demand. Next year, profits per barrel of diesel will average $63 above Brent crude oil prices in the United States and $49 in the EU, up from previous forecasts of $27 and $19 respectively.
