[Iran said an oil tanker illegally passing through the Strait struck a mine and caught fire] August 31, according to a report by Iranian state television today (August 31), Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps stated that a very large oil tanker “set fire after being hit by two mines and stopped sailing” in the Strait of Hormuz. The Revolutionary Guards said the tanker was trying to "illegally pass through the southern Strait of Hormuz." The Revolutionary Guard stressed that ships must comply with its regulations regarding passage through the Strait of Hormuz. (CCTV International News)
