[The Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes countermeasures against Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology Fonseca] On October 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the “Decision on Taking Countermeasures against Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology Fonseca”. In recent years, some anti-China politicians in Belize have stubbornly supported Belize in maintaining so-called "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan, China, out of their own selfish interests, and have adopted a series of bad words and deeds on China-related issues, damaging China's core interests. In order to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests and oppose "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 3, 4, 6, 9 and 15 of the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China, China has decided to impose restrictions on Belize's diplomacy, foreign trade, education, culture, science and technology. Minister of Technology Fonseca took the following countermeasures: 1. Freezing his movable, immovable and other types of properties in China; 2. Prohibiting organizations and individuals in China from conducting transactions, cooperation and other activities with him; 3. Refusing to issue visas and deny entry (including Hong Kong and Macau). This decision will take effect from October 12, 2026.
