[Chinese representative: Looking forward to the new Colombian government fully and steadily implementing the peace agreement] October 13th, the United Nations Security Council will review the situation in Colombia on the 12th local time. Sun Lei, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, said that ten years ago, the signing of the final peace agreement ended more than half a century of civil war in Colombia and set an example of resolving conflicts through dialogue. With the joint efforts of successive Colombian governments, all sectors of society and the international community, positive progress has been made in the implementation of the peace agreement. China hopes that the new Colombian government will focus on the long-term development of the country and the fundamental interests of the people, unite all parties, comprehensively and steadily implement the peace agreement, effectively respond to security challenges, focus on solving the root causes of conflicts, maintain the effectiveness of support from the international community, and continue to move towards the goal of achieving comprehensive and lasting peace.
