[SK Hynix announces H-TPU, a compact processor for SSDs] "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" reported on the 13th that SK Hynix announced the specific structure and performance of a self-developed compact processor (H-TPU) for SSDs. It distributes repetitive tasks processed by a general-purpose CPU to about 100 H-TPUs, thereby reducing power consumption and chip area. The company said: "Currently, general-purpose CPUs inside SSD controllers have reached their limits in terms of power consumption and area. SK Hynix has developed H-TPU that can efficiently handle common input/output (I/O) transmission paths." SK Hynix plans to apply H-TPU technology to various NAND flash memory product lines, including next-generation enterprise-class solid-state drive (eSSD) controllers. It will also be applied to the next generation AI storage architecture "Storage Next". (TheElec)
