[Three Departments: Accelerate the application of electric ships in passenger and freight scenarios within 300 kilometers and less than 3,000 deadweight tons] On October 13, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration jointly issued the "Action Plan for the Promotion and Application of New Energy Ships on Inland Rivers (2026-2030)", which mentioned accelerating the application of electric ships in passenger and freight scenarios within 300 kilometers and less than 3,000 deadweight tons. Promote the application of electric cargo ships in short- and medium-distance container and dry bulk transportation scenarios such as inland rivers with relatively fixed routes or direct river-sea connections on specific routes; promote electric passenger ships in sightseeing and ferry scenarios in riverside and lake reservoir areas. Encourage official ships, port ships, yachts, etc. to use battery power. Increase the promotion and application of methanol-powered ships in long-distance and large-tonnage freight scenarios. Focus on long-distance transportation scenarios such as direct river-sea and river-sea combined transport, and promote the use of methanol-powered ships for containers, bulk bulk cargo, and roll-on/roll-off transportation. Encourage all localities to explore other energy applications such as hydrogen energy based on actual conditions. Support the application of biodiesel, green methanol and other renewable energy sources on ships.
