[The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council: We have always actively promoted cross-strait tourism exchanges and cooperation, and the DPP authorities should remove their obstruction] October 14th: The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference on October 14. A reporter asked: During this year’s National Day holiday, the mainland’s cultural tourism market continues to be hot. Due to the obstruction of the Democratic Progressive Party authorities, Taiwan's tourism industry has lost the mainland tourist market and has been recovering slowly. Tourism operators on the island have said that in the past, mainland tourists visiting Taiwan brought a lot of dividends, but now they can "see it but not eat it." Any comment on this?
Spokesperson Chen Binhua said that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are one family, and we have always actively promoted cross-Strait tourism exchanges and cooperation. However, for some time, the DPP authorities have put political self-interest above people's livelihood and well-being, completely ignored the voices and demands of Taiwan's tourism industry operators and the general public, and deliberately interfered with and hindered cross-Strait tourism exchanges, resulting in a sluggish recovery in Taiwan's tourism industry. The DPP authorities should change course, comply with public opinion, remove obstacles to cross-Strait personnel exchanges and tourism exchanges and cooperation, and resume mainland residents traveling to the island as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will only be opposed and spurned by more and more Taiwanese people. (CCTV News)
