[International Atomic Energy Agency: Facilitating a partial ceasefire in Russia and Ukraine to repair power facilities near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant] October 15th, local time, the International Atomic Energy Agency stated on October 15, local time, that under the mediation of the Agency’s Director General Grossi, a new round of partial temporary ceasefires between Russia and Ukraine came into effect that morning in order to repair damaged power facilities near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and reduce the risk of the nuclear power plant losing external power supply again. This is the eighth partial temporary ceasefire brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The repair involves a damaged 330-kilovolt substation facility near the Zaporizhia thermal power station. After repair, it will strengthen the connection between the nuclear power plant and the only remaining external power supply line. The International Atomic Energy Agency pointed out that the fuel reserves of emergency diesel generators at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant have continued to be low in recent months. Once the external power supply is interrupted, nuclear safety risks will further increase. Repairs are expected to last several days and will be supervised by International Atomic Energy Agency personnel on site. Grossi said that both Russia and Ukraine have cooperated constructively for this ceasefire. (CCTV News)
