The project is located in Tuanfeng County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province, with a total installed capacity of 298,000 kilowatts and two reversible water pump turbine generator units with a single unit capacity of 149,000 kilowatts. The pumped storage power station consists of two upper and lower reservoirs and a water transmission and power generation system. It pumps water to store energy when the power consumption of the power grid is low, and releases water to generate electricity when the power consumption is peak. It is equivalent to installing a "giant power bank" for the power grid.
