[The Institute of Artificial Intelligence of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology jointly released the "Embodied Intelligence Development Report (2026)"] On October 16, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, during the Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance 2026 Artificial Intelligence Industry Conference held from October 14 to 16, 2026, the Artificial Intelligence Institute of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, and the Embodied Intelligence Testing Laboratory jointly released the "Embodied Intelligence Development Report (2026)" (Chinese version). And the "Embodied Intelligence Development Report (2026)" (English version) was released at the concurrent seminar of the third meeting of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) Focus Group on Embodied Intelligence Standards (FG-EAI) on October 16, 2026. The report is based on the critical window period when embodied intelligence leaps from laboratory verification to large-scale application. It focuses on the new changes and new challenges in industrial development in the past year. It conducts systematic analysis from the clarification of the concepts of physical AI and embodied intelligence, cold thinking under the industrial boom, clarifying the four-element framework of embodied intelligence, analyzing the path evolution and business model from "performance" to "application", evaluation system and international standard progress. Finally, the future development is prospected from four aspects: technical architecture reconstruction, application scenario deepening, evaluation system improvement and safety ethics construction.
