[NVIDIA completes record-breaking 104-qubit fault-tolerant quantum computing simulation] On October 20, NVIDIA announced that it completed a record-breaking fault-tolerant quantum computing simulation at the Jülich Supercomputing Center in Germany. Researchers used the supercomputer JUPITER to successfully simulate a 104-qubit fault-tolerant quantum computing system and verified a technology called "magic state cultivation." JUPITER is Europe's first exascale supercomputer and the largest supercomputing system in Europe. This simulation was run on the GB200 NVL72 super chip system of NVIDIA Accelerated Quantum Research Center (NVAQC), which is composed of 8192 GPUs. NVIDIA says this is the largest and most comprehensive simulation of a fault-tolerant quantum computing system to date, and no previous simulation has been able to model a quantum processor in such detail.
