[British inflation rises to 11-month high, expectations of Bank of England rate hikes rising] On October 21, gasoline and diesel prices soared, pushing the British inflation rate to an 11-month high. The larger-than-expected rise put the Bank of England on track to raise interest rates for the first time in more than three years. The Office for National Statistics said on Wednesday that consumer prices rose 3.5% in the 12 months to September, up from the previous month. 3.1%, also slightly higher than the 3.4% expected by economists.
