[Inoculation of a key clinical trial of Ebola vaccine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo starts] On October 24, the Alliance for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations issued a statement on the 23rd saying that a key clinical trial of a vaccine candidate for the Bundibugyo Ebola virus completed the vaccination of the first subject in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the same day. According to reports, this clinical trial called "Hope" is led by the National Institute of Biomedical Research of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the University of Antwerp in Belgium. It will evaluate the safety, immunogenicity and effectiveness of multiple candidate vaccines. The first vaccine candidate to enter trials is Ervebo, a vaccine previously approved for the prevention of Zaire Ebola virus. Its human protective effect against Bundibugyo Ebola virus is still unclear. Two specific vaccine candidates for the Bundibugyo Ebola virus, funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, will soon enter clinical trials. The statement said that this clinical trial will vaccinate high-risk groups such as close contacts of confirmed cases.
