[Two storms hit northern Europe one after another, power outages in many countries] On October 26, Storm Boelo and Storm Austen swept through many European countries less than 24 hours apart. The British Energy Network Association said that during the two storms, more than 400,000 households were temporarily without power. As of Sunday, more than 80,000 households were still without power. French electricity company Enedis said that at the height of Storm Austin on the 24th, more than 280,000 households across the country were without power. As of noon on Sunday, power was still not restored to about 59,000 households, mainly in Normandy and Brittany. The authorities have deployed 2,600 personnel for emergency repairs. About 10,000 households in Freiburg, southwest Germany, also experienced power outages on Sunday. The main local hospital was forced to limit services to only emergency cases as the power outage also knocked out mobile phone networks. Bad weather has severely disrupted European air traffic. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands canceled about 90 departing flights on Sunday, and dozens of arriving flights were cancelled. Flights to northern England and Scotland are also affected.
