This is the first time Algeria has sent troops overseas since the Fourth Middle East War in 1973. During closed meetings, the Algerian Parliament’s National Chamber (Senate) and National Assembly (House of Representatives) respectively reviewed and adopted the presidential announcement submitted by President Tebboune. Earlier this month, during the visit of Niger's defense minister to Algeria, the two countries signed a military cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the military and security fields.
