[Canada and the United Arab Emirates Sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement] On October 28, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and the visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Khalid of the United Arab Emirates officially signed the "Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement" between the two countries, aiming to eliminate economic barriers and promote investment. According to a press release issued on the official website of the Canadian Prime Minister, after the agreement is fully implemented, tariffs on more than 99% of Canada's current exports to the UAE will be reduced or eliminated. The agreement will also address non-tariff barriers, create a more predictable environment for trade and investment, and expand market access for Canadian goods and services in sectors such as industry, agriculture, forestry, fisheries and seafood, environment and engineering. The agreement is expected to officially enter into force in 2027. During the meeting, the two sides also advanced the UAE's previously committed investment plan of 70 billion Canadian dollars (approximately US$49.8 billion) in Canada, and signed a number of commercial and energy cooperation agreements.
