[Iran claims to have shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone] On September 2, a reporter from the main station learned that according to Iranian news on the evening of September 1, local time, a U.S. MQ-9 drone was shot down by Iran's new defense system over Khomein. Khomein is located in the Central Province of Iran, about 70 kilometers away from Arak, an important city in Iran. Earlier, multiple explosions were heard in Qeshm Island and the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran. There have been no reports of casualties or damage to facilities. The U.S. Central Command stated that at 12:00 Eastern Time on September 1, the U.S. military began attacking targets of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran. The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces issued a statement saying that in response to the US air strikes on targets in the country's Sistan-Baluchestan and Hormozgan provinces, the Iranian Armed Forces will deal a devastating blow to American enemies.
