[Shanxi Coalbed Methane Production Hits Record High in the First Three Quarters] On October 31, reporters learned from the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics that in the first three quarters of this year, Shanxi Province’s coalbed methane production reached 11.74 billion cubic meters, setting a new record for the same period in history, accounting for approximately 80.2% of the national production. At the same time, relying on coalbed methane associated resources, Shanxi has accelerated the layout of the helium extraction industry and realized the transformation from coal mine gas to high-purity strategic resources, providing an important guarantee for the security of national energy and strategic resources. As the country's first pilot province for the comprehensive energy revolution reform, Shanxi has outstanding coalbed methane resource endowments. The predicted resource volume below 2,000 meters is about 8.31 trillion cubic meters, accounting for nearly one-third of the country. In recent years, Shanxi has continued to promote the increase of coalbed methane reserves and production. The Qinshui Basin and the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin have made coordinated efforts to form a development pattern of "stable production in the middle and shallow layers and increased production in the deep layers".
