[Freeze the air to store electrical energy. China achieves major breakthrough in liquid air energy storage technology] October 31st, reporters learned from China Green Development Group yesterday that the world’s largest 60-megawatt liquid air energy storage national demonstration project was successfully connected to the grid to generate electricity, achieving a major breakthrough in the engineering and commercialization of liquid air energy storage technology. The liquid air energy storage project is located in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, with a total scale of 60,000 kilowatts. It can help consume 600,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy every day. The annual power transmission reaches about 180 million kilowatt-hours, meeting the annual electricity needs of 30,000 households. The project adopts the core process of -194°C ultra-low temperature cryogenic liquefaction, uses air as the working fluid, and realizes the storage and release of electric energy and cold energy under normal pressure and ultra-low temperature conditions. It has the advantages of large scale, long time efficiency, and long life. (CCTV News)
