[Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China’s submission of a resolution on the peaceful use of science and technology has received broad support from the international community] On November 2, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a regular press conference on November 2. A reporter asked: On October 31, Beijing time, the 81st Session of the Disarmament and International Security Committee of the UN General Assembly (First Committee of the UN General Assembly) voted to adopt the resolution "Promoting International Cooperation for Peaceful Uses in the Field of International Security" submitted by China. Can the spokesperson introduce the relevant situation? Mao Ning said that we welcome the adoption of relevant resolutions by the First Committee of the UN General Assembly. The resolution calls for coordinating development and security, strengthening the role of the United Nations, safeguarding the legitimate rights of developing countries to peacefully use science and technology, urging all countries to take concrete measures to promote international cooperation in the peaceful use of science and technology, and avoid taking restrictive measures that are inconsistent with their international obligations. This is the fourth time since 2021 that China has submitted a resolution on the peaceful use of science and technology to the United Nations General Assembly, which has received widespread support from the international community. Implementing the resolution is one of China's key directions in implementing global security initiatives. (CCTV News)
