[Goldman Sachs restricts traders and bankers from using certain artificial intelligence tools] On November 3, after evaluating productivity and risks, Goldman Sachs banned most employees from using advanced artificial intelligence tools designed for programming, a move that caused dissatisfaction among some people. For months, Goldman Sachs has allowed bankers to use Anthropic PBC’s Claude Code and Microsoft’s GitHub in their work. The bank will now limit access to these tools to engineers. One person familiar with the matter said the ban upset some traders. They had previously used the tools to speed up some of their work, such as monitoring client trade flows, modeling market changes and positions, and producing text and graphical content.
