[Goldman Sachs: Global data center capacity may reach 273GW in 2030, with five-year investment needs of approximately US$8.5 trillion] November 3rd, Goldman Sachs released a research report on November 2nd, raising the global data center capacity forecast in 2030 from 217GW to 273GW, a significant increase from approximately 103GW in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 21%. The bank predicts that about 170GW of new data center capacity will be added globally in the next five years. If calculated based on the empirical assumption of an investment of US$50 billion per GW, the corresponding potential capital expenditure will be approximately US$8.5 trillion. Goldman Sachs also raised its forecast for U.S. data center capacity in 2030 from 125GW to 152GW. It is expected that a total of 103GW will be added after 2025, accounting for about 60% of the world's new capacity in the same period. Goldman Sachs believes that the rapid expansion of new cloud service providers such as Neocloud to meet GPU demand is also one of the important reasons for the upward revision of the US capacity forecast.
