[Real-time tracking of ultrafast quantum processes in graphene] November 5th: Driven by a strong light field, electrons in graphene can cross the energy gap with a very high probability and transition between different energy bands. Scientists from the University of Regensburg, the University of Marburg and the Jülich Research Center in Germany combined laser technology with electron microscopy technology to track this ultrafast quantum process in real time for the first time and found that the tunneling probability of electrons across the energy gap can reach up to 100%. Relevant research was published in the latest issue of "Nature" magazine.
