[The Ministry of Commerce holds a special trade matchmaking meeting for China-EU medical devices in Shanghai] November 6th, on the afternoon of November 5th, during the 9th China International Import Expo, a special trade matching meeting for China-EU medical devices was held in Shanghai. Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy International Trade Representative of the People's Republic of China, Lin Zechang, Vice Minister of Finance, Liu Jinfeng, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission and Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Lei Donne, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Security, and Ou Sicheng, Ambassador of Sweden to China, attended the launching ceremony and delivered speeches. About 200 Chinese and European medical institutions and companies participated.
Ling Ji said that hosting this matchmaking is a pragmatic measure to implement the consensus reached at the second regular meeting of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism held in October this year and to promote an upward balance in China-EU trade. China and the EU have mutual needs and complementary advantages in the field of medical equipment procurement, and the prospects for strengthening cooperation are promising. China has been committed to creating a world-class government procurement business environment and continuously improving market access for European companies in China. It is hoped that the European side will meet each other halfway and ensure that Chinese companies can participate equally in the EU government procurement market.
The European side expressed its appreciation and thanks to the Chinese side for hosting this matchmaking meeting, and looked forward to fully negotiating and reaching a deal between the companies of both sides. EU companies are optimistic about the potential of China's medical and health market and hope that China will continue to keep its public procurement market open and transparent.
