[The Foreign Minister of Iraq and the Foreign Minister of Iran had a phone call to discuss Iran’s plan to restart negotiations] On November 7, according to a statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hussein had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi that day. During the call, Araghchi reviewed Iran’s plan to resume preparations for negotiations, which had been proposed before the U.S. midterm elections. Araghchi said the package includes setting a timetable related to starting the negotiation process, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, restoring points contained in the memorandum of understanding reached in Pakistan, and adding points related to the Iranian nuclear issue. Hussein thanked Araghchi for elaborating on Iran's vision. During the call, he discussed the results of the U.S. midterm elections and their potential impact on the development of regional situations. Hussein pointed out that the region is in a stage of escalating tensions and does not rule out the possibility of another military action. He stressed that practical steps and measures must be taken to curb the escalation of the situation and create the necessary conditions to ease tensions. During the call, Hussein proposed the establishment of a committee composed of ministers from many countries in the region. The committee would mediate and discuss how to reach a peaceful understanding between Iran and the United States to help resolve existing disputes and enhance regional stability. (CCTV News)
