[Netanyahu calls for the formation of a national unity government] November 8th, on the evening of November 7th local time, Israeli President Herzog issued a statement saying that he had decided to authorize the leader of the Integrity Party and the former chief of staff of the Israeli army, Eisenkot, to form a new government. Netanyahu, the current Israeli Prime Minister, issued a video speech saying that the government formed by Esenkot and supported by Arab parties "will destroy Israel from within." He called on the opposition camp to form a "national unity government" with his Likud group and political allies.
