[U.S. State Department approves arms sales to Saudi Arabia and Oman] September 5th, the U.S. State Department issued a statement on the 4th saying that it has approved the sale of relevant military equipment to Saudi Arabia and Oman. The arms sales amount is estimated to be US$5.75 billion and US$188 million respectively. The statement said that the arms sales to Saudi Arabia include 5,004 500-pound bombs, 5,000 2,000-pound bombs and corresponding ammunition guidance components, with an estimated value of US$5 billion; 60 engines that can be used for the "Abrams" main battle tank, with an estimated value of US$750 million. The U.S. State Department also approved the sale of F-16 fighter support services and related equipment to Oman.
