[Compilation Guidelines of the Chinese Society of Natural Science Museums recommends that nudity be prohibited in the exhibition of first-level protected animal specimens] On September 5, the Chinese Society of Natural Science Museums issued a notice on the announcement of the second batch of group standard projects for the Chinese Society of Natural Science Museums in 2026. It is planned to approve 19 group standards including the "Guidelines for the Classification and Protection of Animal Specimens Exhibition in Museums". The guidelines initially recommend that first-class specimens such as holotype specimens, national first-level protected animal specimens, and rare type specimens must be displayed in closed display cabinets, and naked display is prohibited. After evaluation, secondary specimens can be displayed in limited nudity, but the exhibitors must set up isolation guardrails, minimum safety distances and anti-touch facilities. Level 3 ordinary specimens can be displayed naked, but according to preliminary recommendations in the guidelines, exhibitors should install no-touch signs and clearly identify real specimens and simulation models. The guidelines also clarify the restrictions on specimens that are allowed to be displayed naked, including the height of the exhibits, the horizontal distance between the audience, and the form of isolation. In addition, any specimens that have residual antiseptic agents, are easy to fall off, are easy to tear, or are easily damaged by beating must not be displayed naked.
