[Trump: Canadian products will be excluded from the U.S. government procurement plan] September 9th, U.S. President Trump posted on social media on the 8th that he has instructed the U.S. General Services Administration to cooperate with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to take all necessary measures to exclude Canadian products from the U.S. government procurement plan until Canada restores "fair reciprocity" with U.S. farmers and businesses. Trump said, “Canada has been taking advantage of us for many years.” Canada’s federal and provincial governments have prohibited U.S. small businesses and companies from entering its government procurement market, but Canada has broad access to the U.S.’s huge government procurement market. He said: "This is not reciprocity, this is a trade scam by Canada. From now on, there will be no market access without reciprocity."
