[National Bureau of Statistics: Industrial transformation and upgrading have led to increased demand and rising prices in some industries] On September 9, Dong Lijuan, chief statistician of the Urban Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, interpreted the CPI and PPI data for August 2026 and said that from a month-on-month perspective, the national PPI increased by 0.4% from a decrease of 0.7% in the previous month. The main characteristics of this month's PPI month-on-month operation are: First, input factors affect price increases in related domestic industries. The rise in international crude oil and non-ferrous metal prices has driven up prices in related domestic industries. Among them, the prices of oil extraction, refined petroleum product manufacturing, and organic chemical raw material manufacturing have increased by 10.4%, 4.1%, and 0.9% respectively. The prices of non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industries have increased by 0.8%. The four industries have collectively affected the PPI to rise by about 0.31 percentage points month-on-month. Second, industrial transformation and upgrading have led to increased demand and rising prices in some industries. The cultivation of new driving forces was accelerated, and the "smart" and "green" content of industrial development continued to increase. The manufacturing prices of electronic circuits increased by 3.5%, the manufacturing prices of virtual reality equipment increased by 1.9%, and the manufacturing prices of service consumption robots increased by 0.3%; the prices of biomass fuel processing and comprehensive utilization of waste resources both increased by 0.3%. Third, the price trends in some industries show seasonal characteristics. The seasonal increase in demand for electricity and coal in August drove prices in the coal mining and washing industry to rise by 2.8%, and electricity supply prices to rise by 1.4%. High temperature and rainy weather affected the construction of construction projects, and prices in the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry and the non-metallic mineral products industry fell by 0.9% and 0.2% respectively.
