The International Energy Agency said in its latest report on the coal industry that since the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict, oil and liquefied natural gas shipments in the Strait of Hormuz have been blocked, causing prices to rise and prompting countries with gas-fired generators and spare coal capacity to increase coal-fired power generation.
