[Iran says a new channel may be opened in the Strait of Hormuz] September 13th, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said in an interview with the media today (September 13) that the meeting to be held in Oman on September 14 will focus on discussing a new maritime channel in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will then introduce the details of the relevant agreement between Iran and Amanda and the road map for the new channel to the participating countries. Araghchi stressed that the agreement between Iran and Oman does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened. The prerequisite for Iran to reopen the strait is that the United States re-implements its commitments in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Iran believes that the responsibility for maintaining regional security and stability should rest solely with regional countries.
