[International Atomic Energy Agency approves Timor-Leste’s application for membership] September 15th: The 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency approved Timor-Leste’s application for membership on September 14, local time. Timor-Leste will become the agency's 182nd member state. Timor-Leste has previously applied to join the International Atomic Energy Agency and was recommended by the agency's Board of Governors. After approval by the General Assembly, Timor-Leste will still need to deposit a document accepting the Statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency and officially become a member state after completing relevant procedures. The 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency opened on the 14th in Vienna, Austria.
