[Iran said the Strait of Hormuz has been blocked and is under "intelligent control"] On September 15th, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy issued a statement on the 14th local time saying that the supertanker "Algaya" hit a mine while trying to pass through the no-navigation zone south of the Strait of Hormuz, and then exploded. The vessel became engulfed in fire as fire-fighting efforts were unsuccessful. The statement emphasized that warnings had been issued before about the dangers of this illegal route. The Guard Navy clearly announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been blocked and continues to be under Iran’s intelligent control.
