[Bank of China Hong Kong: Starting from tomorrow, we will implement the regularization of personal cross-border credit reporting and use mainland residents’ credit reports to evaluate credit services in Hong Kong] On September 15th, Bank of China Hong Kong announced that it will officially standardize personal cross-border credit reporting in the credit approval process for retail banking services such as mortgages, personal loans and credit cards on September 16 (Wednesday). BOCHK said that this move marks the regular application of the pilot results of "Cross-border Credit Information Interoperability", providing more convenient credit service support for mainland residents coming to work or live in Hong Kong, and further enhancing the cross-border financial service experience. According to BOCHK, the bank will apply cross-border credit reporting to different personal banking scenarios, using verified mainland personal credit reports submitted by customers to more accurately assess their repayment ability, thereby optimizing the credit approval process and improving approval efficiency. Customers will also have the opportunity to obtain better credit conditions.
It is understood that in October 2025, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the People's Bank of China decided to regularize the "cross-border credit information exchange" business based on previous pilots to facilitate cross-border financing for enterprises and individuals in the two places. Public information shows that BOC Hong Kong is the first bank in Hong Kong to announce the regular application of personal cross-border credit reports. September 15th, (Reporter Zou Juntao)
